Heads up, this post contains affiliate links which means I make a small commission if you choose to buy :)

In a couple of my classes, the professor expected us to have our final drafts printed, STAPLED, and ready to hand in at the door. I'm sure you can imagine some students scrambling to borrow a stapler somewhere from someone. A couple of times, that student was me, so here I am to tell you, please buy a mini stapler as a class essential to keep in your backpack; you will thank yourself later, and possibly so will someone else.

Having an agenda makes everything a thousand times easier to remember. You can organize your important due dates, such as homework, FAFSA, enrollment, etc. The 5-3 subject notebook or the note binder is as important as the agenda. What I like about notebooks is that you can have all of your class notes in one place, and they come with pockets, so you can quickly slip in any papers you received from that class.  I don't know why, but I always preferred writing my notes instead of typing them. I also had a note binder that is not bulky at all; it comes with subject folder dividers so you can organize your papers

Red pens are a must! Quite a few classes had us grading each other's papers. Without a doubt, some professors expected you to have a red or a different colored pen, so I decided it was best to buy the four-color (black, blue, red, green) pen. That way, I wouldn't have to keep track of so many colored pens. If you like many multiunit colored pens, these are great options for adding more color and fun. Highlighters are always great for highlighting books and can be used with study guides!

You learn what you need as you go; these smaller class essentials, I quickly learned, would make things easier. Every class is different, and so is every professor; some may require things that others don't, so make sure you pay attention on the first day of class; this is the day they may go over what they will require.
